1 – International Business Development Manager

Chromacity is a dynamic, fast growing, SME that designs, manufactures and sells fixed and variable wavelength ultrafast lasers. The company is looking to expand the team to develop and execute on a strategic sales plan.

This role will facilitate the building of global awareness of the Chromacity product range and help it to be recognised as the market leader in the field of laser technology, specifically in, but not limited to, spectroscopy. The Company needs an ambitious business development resource to:

  • Design and implement a strategic sales plan that expands company’s customer base to develop a strong presence in the field of spectroscopy (vibrational, raman, FTIR etc.)
  • Identify emerging markets and market shifts while being fully aware of new products and competition status
  • Assist in developing an effective sales strategy that increases sales of the company’s products, which includes identifying, monitoring and reporting on KPI’s

What you can expect:

The purpose of the role is the management, coordination and execution of sales and business development activities with demonstrable experience in the areas below, supported by evidence:

  • Market research to evaluate the value proposition (market applications, pricing, competitor analysis, identifying new territories etc.).
  • Develop and execute the right market entry strategy (e.g. distributor, direct market, OEM, system integrator etc.) for all local and international markets opportunities.
  • Attend conference and exhibitions to gather market data and identify/meet potential customers.
  • Manage key customer relationships and participate in closing strategic opportunities.
  • Produce a plan which analyses and prioritises potential opportunities for the product range aligned to agreed sales targets.
  • Assist in defining the sales process and metrics for performance management.
  • Support internal members of the team

The Person:

The ideal candidate must have previous business development experience at a senior level with a track record of closing high value strategic business opportunities, ideally within a tech company setting and an understanding to complex technical sales process.

You will have a good understanding of developing and raising awareness of market profile, develop new customer relationships and ability to research and develop business opportunities in new markets as well as confidently being able to produce reports on effectiveness of sales and business development activity.

You will be a confident leader, with effective project management qualities. A good understanding of industry standards and regulatory requirements would be desirable.

You will have strong communication and organisation skills as well as be competent and confident with IT and Microsoft Office.

Goals and Objectives:

Market Research:

Gain an understanding of the business, products and market applications Develop and implement overarching plan to target key customers in market sectors and/or identify new products/market applications.

Brand Awareness:

Conduct analysis and identify key market activities that will build commercial awareness of Chromacity and its product portfolio. Identify marketing and promotional opportunities to build brand awareness, develop strategy with marketing team. Execute and monitor success.

Customer Engagement:

  • Identify target customers and prepare customer engagement plan
  • Define performance metrics and execute on plan
  • Monitor and review KPI’s and increase in revenue generation against plan

Commercial Processes:

  • Understand lifecycle for each product in market sector
  • Define sales process for each market sector and identify KPIs
  • Train staff and implement a monitoring programme review and monitor programme (update as required).

Supporting Team:

  • Support the team in areas of sales effort that cross over sectors (as and when required)
  • Prepare and deliver training/mentoring programme
  • Monitor performance
